Big Adventure? Let’s Talk
The Artemis Difference
Come with an open mind, a willingness to participate and respect for those sharing the journey.
There’s room for different personalities, perspectives and abilities. Some participants will arrive adventurous and outgoing. Others will be quieter or stepping outside their comfort zone for the first time.
Artemis brings young women together to find out what they can do for themselves and for each other. In a small group, everyone has a chance to speak, take responsibility and try something unfamiliar.
Our instructors encourage respect, accountability, humour and looking out for one another. There will be challenges and disagreements along the way. Learning to navigate those moments together is part of the adventure.
A Word About Our Language and Who Belongs
Throughout our Artemis experiences, you'll see us use words such as girls, female, women, and young women. We recognize that participants have different relationships with these terms, and that gender identity and personal expression are individual experiences.
For this course, we generally use young women to describe our participants, who are between 13 and 18 years of age. World Bound Artemis Fiji is intended for young women, including transgender young women, who feel that this experience is right for them.
We respect how participants identify and the language they use to describe themselves. Our focus is on creating an inclusive, respectful environment where each person can participate fully without pressure to conform to a particular idea of what it means to be female.
Beyond the Resorts
Travel into rural communities, tropical forests, coastal villages and remote islands to experience Fiji through the people who call it home.
Working alongside our long-standing partners at Suncoast Adventures and professional marine operators, participants will experience the same core adventures that make World Bound Fiji so distinctive.
Adventure Highlights
Six-Day Remote Island Expedition With Spearfishing Lessons. Five nights camping on a remote island, preparing meals, managing camp responsibilities, and exploring the surrounding ocean.
Scuba or freediving. Learn with professional instructors. A certification pathway may be available, subject to operator requirements, conditions and participant readiness.
Coral Reef Snorkelling. Multiple days exploring Fiji's marine ecosystems and learning about reef conservation.
Traditional Canoe Building. Participate in a week-long farm-to-canoe experience with local craftspeople.
Ocean Adventures. Paddleboarding, coastal exploration, boating, and supervised spearfishing and fishing with local guides.
Fijian Culture & Language. Learn basic Fijian expressions, customs, and everyday traditions through local experiences.
Fijian weaving and storytelling. Learn plant weaving with local community members and hear stories and knowledge shared by Fijian women.
Food, Farming & Sustainability. Explore traditional cooking, agriculture, beekeeping, and local food systems.
Waterfalls & Rainforest. Explore the Suncoast landscapes, including Nabalasere Waterfall.
Community & Conservation. Participate in locally guided environmental and community projects.
It's active, hands-on, occasionally challenging, and full of opportunities to try something you've never done before. Activities depend on weather, ocean conditions, local arrangements, and participant readiness.
The Women of Fiji: Stories Worth Sharing
One of the things that makes Artemis different is the opportunity to connect with women from other cultures and generations. In Fiji, we'll spend time learning from local women involved in farming, traditional knowledge, community life, education, environmental stewardship, and local businesses.
With our Fijian partners, we’ll make time for conversation, participation and shared learning.
What does daily life look like for a young woman growing up in Fiji? What responsibilities do women hold within their communities? What traditions are being passed between generations? What challenges and opportunities do they see for the future?
Sometimes the most memorable part of an adventure is a conversation with someone whose life is completely different from your own.
Climate Change. From Reef to Resilience
Rising sea levels, coastal erosion, changing weather patterns, coral reef degradation, and pressure on local food systems are challenges facing communities across the South Pacific.
Throughout the expedition, participants will explore these issues alongside Fijian hosts and local environmental initiatives.
Coral Reefs. Why they matter to marine biodiversity, fishing, coastal protection, and local livelihoods.
Climate Change & Communities. How changing environmental conditions influence life in Fiji.
Mangroves & Coastal Protection. How coastal ecosystems help protect communities and support marine life.
Food & Sustainability. How local farming, fishing, and traditional practices connect people to their environments.
Women & Environmental Change. How women contribute to conservation, community adaptation, and the sharing of environmental knowledge.
Where appropriate, participants will take part in locally organized conservation activities such as coral or mangrove restoration, then develop a practical environmental action they can carry home to their schools, families or communities.
Your 21-Day Fiji Youth Adventure
Three weeks of ocean adventure, cultural connection, women's leadership and personal discovery.
Days 1–7 · Find Your Feet. Find Your People.
Our first week is about getting to know Fiji, building friendships and discovering what it means to be part of the Artemis community.
We'll explore rural communities, visit local farms, learn about traditional food production, discover Fijian customs and participate in hands-on canoe-building activities alongside local craftspeople.
We'll also venture into the tropical landscapes, visit waterfalls, explore village life and learn from the women and families who call Fiji home.
Everyone begins sharing responsibility for meals, equipment, daily planning and group activities. Those small, everyday tasks build independence, communication and the confidence to support one another.
Days 8–14 · Island Life and Ocean Adventures
The planned six-day expedition includes five nights camping beside the ocean. Wake up by the Pacific, explore reefs and paddleboard along the coast. Learn from local fishing guides and share the work of camp cooking, equipment care and planning. Quiet time and group reflection make room for conversation about marine conservation, island communities and what we are learning from one another.
Days 15–21 · Dive Deeper. Discover More. Take It Home.
With professional Fijian dive partners, participants can develop snorkelling and ocean skills. Optional diving and certification depend on operator requirements, conditions and participant readiness.
We'll explore Fiji's marine ecosystems, learn about coral reef conservation and discover how local communities are responding to environmental change.
There will also be opportunities to reconnect with community partners, reflect on our experiences and celebrate the friendships we've built.
Through shared challenges and guided reflection, participants consider their strengths, how they build healthy relationships, and what they want to take home.
We'll finish with a celebration of our journey, the people we've met and everything we've accomplished together.
