Camp Fireside provides a unique immersive forest camp-style experience where kids can just be kids and enjoy summer the way they are meant to. In nature, by the ocean and enjoying the best days of summer. Activities include (but are not limited to) forest parkour, paddle boarding, swimming, hiking, story-telling, creative cook-offs (Iron Chef and Forest Gourmet), hiking, indoor climbing, wilderness arts and crafts, and so much more.

Includes: Tent accommodation, 24/7 instruction and supervision supported by excellent instructors, return ferry ticket, camp supplies, indoor climbing, all meals (except on the return ferry), and all activities (water, forest, and land-based). IMPORTANT - all campers are required to bring $25.00 for their return ferry ride to purchase their lunch.

Big Day Weekly Theme — Wednesdays
Every Wednesday is BIG DAY—a full-day adventure that takes campers somewhere new, gives them a challenge, and ends with a story worth bringing home.
Week One — Into the Wild: Skookumchuk Adventure
Pack the day bag—we’re heading into the wild! Campers travel to Skookumchuk Narrows for a day of hiking, exploring forest trails, a picnic lunch and discovering a completely different part of the Sunshine Coast. And no Fireside adventure is complete without an ice cream stop on the way home.
Week Two — IFFY: International Film Festival — Your Story
Lights. Camera. Fireside! Campers become the directors, actors, photographers and storytellers, working together to create their own short videos. The day finishes Fireside-style with a movie in the park and our very own mini film festival.
Week Three — Pirates of Tuwanek Beach
Grab a paddle and get ready to explore! Campers spend the day adventuring around Tuwanek Beach by paddleboard and canoe, exploring the shoreline, swimming, playing beach games and searching for a little Fireside treasure. The expedition finishes with a special surprise waiting at the end of the day.
Week Four — The Roberts Creek Fort Building Championship
Driftwood. Rope. Imagination. Go! We head to Roberts Creek for a beach picnic and an all-out driftwood fort-building challenge. Teams design, build and defend their creations before the judges crown the first Fireside Fort Building Champions.

We go old-school: tent camping, small groups, 100% outside and 100% fresh air
We specialize in: children’s outdoor gourmet cooking, parkour, introduction to wilderness camping, environmental education, adventure sports, and bringing back the best of the childhood overnight camp experience
A digital detox: There are no phones allowed at Camp Fireside (except the lead instructor). Kids unplug and immerse themselves in nature, building social-emotional adaptability through outdoor activities, reflective sit spots, morning and afternoon circle talks, and debriefs
Something for everyone: We make sure our camps have a mix of structure and spontaneity so that kids feel secure without getting bored. Our camp schedule is crafted to ensure there is a mix of activity and downtime as well as including outdoor activities, expressive arts, and games.

Fireside programs are built around experience, challenge, service and reflection—helping young people expand their comfort zones, discover what they are capable of and carry that learning back into their schools, relationships and communities. Inspired in part by educator Kurt Hahn, we intentionally create opportunities for curiosity, initiative, physical engagement, self-discipline, compassion and meaningful responsibility—qualities young people need opportunities to practise, not simply be told about.
Our youth and young-adult programs are phone and technology free. For some, that feels like a digital detox; for others, it is a chance to reclaim a piece of childhood and adolescence—to be fully present, build real friendships and experience adventure without a screen between themselves and the moment. This practice comes from more than 20 years of working with young people and hearing, again and again, how valuable it is to have a place where everyone disconnects together.
Wherever we travel, we are grateful visitors—they are the spectrum of experts. We strive to work alongside local and Indigenous guides, knowledge keepers, storytellers, educators, families and service providers, recognizing that knowledge comes from many people and that those who live within a place carry perspectives, histories and relationships to the land and community that are not ours to speak for.
We welcome participants from different social and economic backgrounds, cultures, identities, beliefs and perspectives. We ask everyone to arrive with curiosity, respect and a willingness to listen, question assumptions and consider another point of view—because just because we say it, think it or have heard it before doesn’t necessarily make it right.
Our leaders don't tell participants what to think. Our responsibility is to connect experience with learning, provide credible context, ask good questions and create space for thoughtful conversation, disagreement and reflection. Across our programs, climate change, conservation, culture and our changing relationship with the natural world are explored at a depth appropriate to each journey.
Ultimately, Challenge. Strive. Learn. is about creating values-based experiences that matter beyond the trip—helping participants expand their comfort zones, better understand themselves and others, and return home with greater confidence, perspective and responsibility for the communities they are part of.
