Bring the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to your school or youth community
Give your young people a framework for developing skills, staying active, contributing to their community and taking on an adventure.
Your organization doesn’t need to run its own Award Centre. Participants can join through Fireside Adventures, while we work with your teachers, youth leaders or program staff to connect the Award with suitable activities you already offer.
Talk to us about a partnership
You know your young people. We help make the Award work.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award brings together skills, physical recreation, voluntary service and an Adventurous Journey, with an additional Gold Project at Gold level. Participants set personal goals, work toward them and reflect on what they learn.
We can help your group understand the requirements, build individual Award plans, use the Online Record Book and work toward completion. Together, we’ll agree on participant support, Award administration, communication and fees.
We welcome conversations with schools, home-learning groups, church youth groups and community organizations working with young people.
Choose the partnership that fits your organization
Join through Fireside’s Award Centre
Your participants register through Fireside, with an agreed plan for how we work alongside your staff. Your organization can stay involved in the activities and relationships it already supports, while Fireside provides the agreed Award Centre guidance and administration.
Connect the Award with your existing program
We’ll explore how appropriate activities already happening in your school or community can support participants’ Award goals. We help clarify what qualifies, what evidence is needed and where additional activities or support may be required.
Plan an Adventurous Journey
If you already operate an Award Centre, we can discuss journey preparation and delivery for your group while you retain your existing Award Centre arrangements. Fireside and Vancouver Outdoor School provide outdoor programming at different times of year.

What does Open Award Centre mean?
An Open Award Centre welcomes participants beyond one particular school or membership group. Through this model, young people can join Fireside individually or as part of an agreed school or community partnership.
Your school or organization does not need to establish its own Award Centre for its young people to participate through Fireside.
Start with a conversation
Tell us about your young people, what your organization already offers and the support you’re looking for. We’ll discuss eligibility, responsibilities, costs and a practical way to get started.
No partnership is one size fits all. We’ll agree on the arrangement before you commit.
