The Artemis Difference: Adventure on Your Own Terms
Rebels Against the Ordinary. Women Who Dare to Explore.
Where Adventure Meets Serenity
Artemis is for women who want to do more than simply visit a destination. Our experiences bring together physical activity, practical skill development, cultural learning, and shared adventure. We work with experienced local guides and community partners to create opportunities that are engaging, authentic, and genuinely enjoyable.
Whether you're an experienced outdoor enthusiast or trying freediving for the first time, you'll be encouraged to participate, learn, and explore at a pace that works for you.
There is no prescribed version of what an adventurous woman should look like. What brings us together is curiosity, a willingness to try something new, and an appreciation for the places and people we encounter.
Fiji Through the Eyes of Fijian Women
A central part of Artemis Fiji is the opportunity to spend time with local Fijian women and communities. Working with our long-standing partners at Suncoast Adventures, we'll participate in cultural activities, traditional cooking, local farming, and everyday community experiences.
You'll learn foundational Fijian words and greetings, explore local customs, and discover how traditions continue to shape life across the islands. These exchanges are developed with local hosts and grounded in participation, respect, and genuine relationships.
We will spend time with local Fijian women learning the intricate art of plant weaving to create mats and clothing. This is a deep cultural tradition that will be shared with our group alongside storytelling from community members.
The Artemis Fiji Experience
Freediving & Ocean Exploration
Learn to explore beneath the surface. Fiji's tropical waters provide an exceptional setting for developing ocean skills. A highlight of the program is a structured introduction to freediving with experienced local instructors. You'll learn breathing and relaxation techniques, equalization, underwater movement, and essential safety practices.
Guided snorkelling excursions offer opportunities to explore coral reefs and discover the remarkable marine life of the South Pacific. No previous freediving experience is required. Instruction will be tailored to individual ability, with appropriate safety supervision.
Beyond the practical skills, you'll gain a deeper understanding of Fiji's marine environments and the importance of protecting them.
Fijian Traditions & Cultural Exchange
Experience Fiji through its people. Spend time with Fijian hosts learning about traditional customs, food preparation, community life, and local knowledge. Where arranged with our hosts, we'll participate in a traditional sevusevu welcome ceremony, an important cultural practice involving the presentation of yaqona (kava) as a gesture of respect. Foundational Fijian language lessons will introduce useful greetings and expressions that can be practised throughout the journey.
These experiences offer opportunities for conversation, shared learning, and a more personal understanding of Fiji.
Mangrove and Coral Restoration & Coastal Conservation
Learn about the ecosystems that sustain island communities. Mangroves protect Fiji's shorelines, provide essential habitat for marine life, and contribute to the resilience of coastal communities. Coral health is key to a sustainable and biodiverse ocean where we play and explore. Working alongside local partners, we'll participate in a community-led mangrove and coral restoration activity, subject to local arrangements.
You'll learn about coastal conservation, restoration techniques, and the environmental challenges facing Pacific Island communities.
Farm-to-Table Fijian Living
Many meals throughout the journey will feature fresh, locally grown ingredients and traditional Fijian dishes.
We'll visit farms, learn about local food production, and participate in cooking experiences with Fijian hosts.
Expect tropical fruits, seasonal produce, traditional recipes, and the hospitality that makes sharing food such an important part of Fijian life.
Rainforests, Waterfalls & Rural Fiji
Our journey takes us through rural landscapes, tropical forests, and local communities, including the countryside around Nadi and Fiji's Suncoast.
We plan a guided waterfall excursion, with the proposed Navuasevu Waterfall visit subject to confirmation of its location and access.
These excursions provide opportunities for hiking, swimming where conditions allow, and discovering the diversity of Fiji's natural environments.
Dream Villas and island camping
Dream Villas near Volivoli is our proposed coastal base, surrounded by Fiji’s northern coastline. We’re confirming the balance of nights at Dream Villas and camping with our local partners.
This will be our base for freediving instruction, guided snorkelling, and coastal exploration.
Between activities, you'll have time to swim, enjoy the accommodation, share meals, and relax by the ocean.
The days will be active, but not rushed. Having time to enjoy where we are is an important part of the experience.
Remote island camping
The working plan includes camping beside the ocean, with opportunities to paddleboard, snorkel, fish, navigate the coastline, explore a historic settlement, take part in coral conservation, and try a guided solo experience. Activities and the camping arrangements depend on conditions and confirmation with local hosts.
