"When you realize how perfect everything is, you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky” – Buddha.

Come and join us to celebrate Linda Tylla’s life and love for the wilderness through Fireside’s Laughing Buddha: Yukon River Expedition.

 Paul and Linda before ALS

How things add up?

Adult Yukon River Expedition + Wilderness Gourmet Cooking Lessons + Forest Yoga & Meditation Sessions + Laughing Buddha Teachings = One Heck Of A Time Together

Fireside Adventures created Laughing Buddha River Experiences to offer something absolutely unique and respectful for family and friends to come together to experience something larger than life. This year we are proud to be a part of Linda’s celebration of life; to raise money for ALS and  to honour Linda’s love for the wild.

At Fireside Adventures, we help guide people to seriously unplug, celebrate and honour their lives and the lives of others in the easiest most holistic ways while connecting outdoor adventure and basic teachings from the Laughing Buddha with the tenets of Buddhism. We are also food centred which is why all Laughing Buddha trips are focused on teaching wilderness gourmet cooking to feed our bellies and nourish our souls. Arrive in Whitehorse, Yukon and paddle the Yukon River from Carmacks to Dawson City.  We look forward to guiding you down the Yukon River this August.

It's a Life Changing Experience For You

The Personal Invite, Continue To Be The Character in Linda’s Ongoing Story and Support ALS

Linda told us she always wanted to go to the Yukon.

Linda Tylla (1972-2018) was an adventurous woman who lived with ALS disease, was home cared with unconditional love by her family and has inspired many people to make healthy choices and live life to the fullest. She benefited greatly from donated equipment supplies by the ALS Society and therefore friends of Linda,
Fireside Founder Jeff Willis and Jordan Birch (Co-Founder of Alive Foods & The Meaningful Business Alliance) want to pay it forward by stewarding this experience for you, the ALS community, Linda, and her caregiver husband Paul Tylla. Paul is our official guest of honour.

Your registration for the "Laughing Buddha Trip" makes a difference in so many ways. Our goal this trip is to raise $4000+ to purchase outdoor adaptive equipment for people struggling with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig's) disease and be the foundation for an ongoing program that will continue to be funded by future trips.

This program will supply individuals supported by an amazing organization, the BC ALS Society with what they need to make every moment count

A message from Jeff "Willy" Willis, Fireside Adventures Founder and Lead Guide

Jeff Willy Willis - Yukon tour guide

From the many conversations I had with Linda, she had a tremendous amount of interest in people, places and experiences that were larger than life. She also loved adventures. The Yukon is definitely larger than life and an incredible life adventure. Those who knew Linda would agree that she would have chosen to be on this canoe trip with her tribe to celebrate, explore, laugh, and give back to the ALS community if she could.  When I heard Linda had died I wanted to say F! @K ALS because it caused her such suffering and had taken away her ability to live the lifestyle she held so dear. She also didn't get the chance to paddle the Yukon River.

It was at that moment I decided to wake the frig up, live more, to take more risks, and be a better a person.  Seeing how Paul and his kids gave Linda so many amazing moments and adventures inspired me to make a difference as well. I realized how hard they had to work and the lengths they went to pushing a heavy wheel chair down trails, over snow, through sand, all to let every moment count.  I wanted to honor her and her family by making these experiences more of a reality for people who deserve what Linda's family did for her.  Here's the opportunity to help another person, another family, and provide the tools necessary for these people to have meaningful life experiences just like the ones Linda's family gave her!

"When you realize how perfect everything is, you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky” – Laughing Buddha.

A thank you from Paul Tylla,
Guest of Honour, Co-Founder of Alive Foods & The Meaningful Business Alliance

 Paul and Linda TYLLA

It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I am inviting you all to share this amazing adventure with me.  To know that Linda’s journey and the challenges we faced together are now creating a ripple effect of hope and love for others brings a deeper sense of purpose to her Life. If the telling of her story can help even one person then it was all worth it.  So as the steward of her legacy I am committed to supporting Jeff, Jordan and Fireside Adventures in the creation of this trip and the program it will fund.  Life is about finding ways to love ourselves and in turn others so please come  and join us and know Linda’s spirit will be with us every stroke of the way.

A message from Jordan "Birchy" Birch,
Guide, Co-Founder of Alive Foods & The Meaningful Business Alliance

Jordan Birch - Yukon canoe trip leader

Linda has inspired my family and I. We personally witnessed how she benefited greatly from donated equipment supplies by the ALS Society and therefore as friends of Linda, Jeff, and Paul, I want to pay it forward by stewarding this experience for you and the ALS community. Paul, my dear friend and business partner is our official guest of honour. He and his kids are the courageous example of unconditional love who gave Linda who had no voice a choice to participate in outdoor activities, sunsets, and community events. You are coming on this trip to celebrate, laugh, connect and enjoy your time with us. With all the unique combined elements that make up this rite of passage trip to the Yukon I trust you will be equally impacted personally and professionally.

Expedition Food

 Wilderness gourmet cooking

A well-nourished body makes a significant impact on a person’s experience in times of physical and/or mental exertion. Participants will learn how to pack for and prepare meals on extended backcountry trips, and how to cook in a “wilderness gourmet” kitchen. While on trip we will nourish our bodies with healthy and holistic foods suited to all diets supported by one of our wilderness chefs

Expedition Safety

It is safer to travel in a group and it is much safer to have guides supporting you regardless of your comfort and outdoor skill level. Our team puts a lot of effort into planning, preparing and most importantly, teaching you how to be safe in the wilderness.

Fitness Capacities

If you are concerned about your physically readiness to attend one of our programs, please contact us directly. We modify our experiences based on people's abilities and capacities. Relax and let us work together to make an informed shared decision.

All participants will not be allowed bring phones, computers, watches and jewelry while we are on the river. In Dawson City, you’ll get your digital goods and fancy stuff back. We lead trips with an absolute respect for all religions, wellness practices and cultures. In particular, we do our upmost to demonstrate our respect for Indigenous people of Canada, as we are visitors traveling within their rightful lands. In following the Laughing Buddha’s teachings, we want to ensure that we are being mindful of the values and significance of Buddhism and those practicing Buddhism in their daily lives.
